Audio Signal Phase 101

Freeware - Sennheiser DrumMic'a! Kontakt Library

https://en-us.sennheiser.com/drummica

Sennheiser has been providing DrumMic’a! as a library for KONTAKT and KONTAKT PLAYER for more than 7 years now. We are happy about a large community with more than 120.000 users from over 250 countries and thank all of those who have joined our offer during this exiting project phase. As our close partnership with Native Instrument phased out and NI will discontinue the Service Center Serial management end of May 2020, we decided to offer DrumMic’a! as free 3rd party library for KONTAKT to our fans in the future. This means that existing DrumMic’a! installations can be used without limitations, but new installations will include a non-removable time-out for the Instrument when loaded in the KONTAKT PLAYER freeware. This limit will not be applied in the full version of KONTAKT. Also, installation will be slightly different from the process in the past. As we are currently working on all necessary adjustments, we kindly ask for your patience during the next few days. All users who have already signed up, please approve your account, install the software using the orig. installer and register your activation code via Native Instruments Service Center asap., as the respective NI server will be down June 1. The original installer cannot be used for future installations! Thanks a lot for your understanding and return at a later point of time.

Gain Staging: What It Is and How to Do It

https://www.izotope.com/en/learn/gain-staging-what-it-is-and-how-to-do-it.html

Gain staging—a term that baffles many beginners. It’s the kind of phrase people throw around at producer parties (mixing mixers?) as though they know what it means. Often they don’t.

Even if I threw down a prosaic definition of gain staging—say, “adjusting the level at each point of amplification to ensure an optimal signal-to-noise ratio, without unwanted distortion”—it might only confuse you, especially if you didn’t understand the building blocks of that definition.

So in this article, we’ll cover those building blocks. Furthermore, we’ll cover a modern approach to gain staging, one that defies the analog rules of yesteryear.
